how exactly should organisations change in order to attract the Internet generation?
Generation Y is driven by trial and error, an approach that it has taken over from the video games. If they can’t do a particular job, they don’t look in a manual but phone, E-mail or SMS a friend. They succeed by generating immediate feedback within their own network. Immediate feedback, trial and error, networking – these are the things you need to build into an organisation. Generation Y doesn’t look in a manual or ask his superior for the solution to a problem, but comes up with a solution immediately from within its own network. You have to enable them to act in this way. You can do this by putting them to work “fully equipped” – that is, with all the communication tools they have in their own world. At the same time, you have to give serious thought to the furnishing of their worksite.
